Prayer of Commitment: Matthew 23

Whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Christ Jesus,
help us share the Gospel,
and ourselves too, with the ones you give us to serve.
Let us be gentle with them, as a nursing mother cares for her children.

If tassels, fine clothes, and terms of respect can help us to
serve others with warmth, then put tassels all over us.
But since humility must undergird all service,
then let our real place of honor
be in the very last place
with you.
